Les Expéditions Pirsuq worked in close accociation with the Basque expedition, the Indianoak, that took place in July, 2003. On this occasion, 14 Basque oarsmen took up the challenge to follow the same route that their whale-hunting ancestors used between 1510 and 1730.
On board a trainière, a 12-metre long and 2-metre high rowing vessel, the crew of the Indianoak departed from Sept-Îles for Trois-Pistoles. This 500-km voyage divided into 13 stages, each 40 km in length, lead the Basque sailors to many municipalities on the North Shore.
In their inflatable boat, The Expéditions Pirsug was responsible for escorting the trainière and ensuring the safety of the crew during its expedition.

Les rameurs basques ont dû faire face à plusieurs difficultés, entre autres, le bri de leur traînière au large de Godbout. L’intervention de l’équipe des Expéditions Pirsuq a contribué à sauver l’équipage basques qui devaient rejoindre la rive sans tarder et réparer leur bateau qui se remplissait d’eau rapidement.
Une aventure inoubliable pour Les Expéditions Pirsuq qui, en plus du trajet parcouru, ont pu découvrir une toute nouvelle culture exprimée en chanson, contes et légendes basques.
